Sketches of Young Ladies, in which these Interesting Members of the Animal Kingdom are Classified

Chapman and Hall, 1837. Hardcover. By "Quiz." with six illustrations by "Phiz." This volume was written by Edward Caswall under the pseudonym "Quiz", but is often attributed to Dickens because Dickens wrote two sequels: Sketches of Young Gentlemen and Sketches of Young Couples. Our copy indeed has "Dickens" as the author on the rebound spine. 6 ¼" x 4". Bound by Riviere & Son in full green morocco leather with gilt borders and elaborate gilt decorations and titles to spine with 5 raised bands, all edges gilt, plum endpapers, and original blue wrappers included at rear. Frontispiece, full-title, copyright, [iii]-v preface, [vii]-viii contents, [1]-80, original front wrapper, original rear wrapper. Includes all 6 plates. Condition: Leather on spine has faded from green to brown, all gilt beautifully intact, all pages and plates clean and unmarked without any foxing. An interesting and absolutely stunning little volume to add to your collection of Dickens' works (or in this case, Caswall's work with Dickens' name on it!). Very Good. Item #ABE-1470856016872
