An obituary in the East Bay Times reports that Fisher "was a decorated WWII veteran, by US and Philippine Forces. He was in the US Army's 34th Pursuit Squadron saw action in the Battle of the Points in Aglaloma. As a POW he survived the Bataan Death March. He was a recipient of the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts and the Philippine Wounded Soldiers Medal. He was vice-commander of the Western States Chapter of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor who was instrumental in bonding the friendship and camaraderie among American and Filipino veterans."
