Girard, Kansas: Appeal to Reason, 1908. 1st Edition. Hardcover. The "Appeal to Reason" variant, published apparently simultaneously with the first edition, varying only in the title page and the lack of a publisher on the spine. A weekly socialist newspaper, the "Appeal to Reason" appears within the novel, attempting to publish John Cunningham's suppressed book before being declared seditious and destroyed by a sinister mob in chapter X. Illustrated boards faded, bumped corners, fraying at head and tail of spine. Slightly shaken.
