He is now best known for his 1766 novel, The Vicar of Wakefield." This volume is referenced in George Eliot's famous novel The Mill on The Floss. 880 pages with additional 56 page index. Covers are scuffed and volume is edgeworn. First free front endpaper is torn near head of spine and has two signatures and a previous owner stamp. The next 12 pages suffer from the same tear and are loose from the binding. Ink signature on title page. These pages are dampstained. The remainder of the binding is sound.
