This text was commissioned by the Institute of Pacific Relations, in May of 1932, with the goal of studying and reporting on the conditions of the South Sea Islands under Japanese mandate; to determine the extent of economic and social development under Japanese administration compared to the prior German regime. Red cloth boards, gilt tiles to spine. 312 pp., including index, fold-out map before page 1, tables throughout. Condition: Gilt to spine intact but somewhat faded, corners are slightly bumped, minor scuffing to covers. Fold-out map is fine, text block is tight, "Bureau of International Relations" stamps to half-title and title pages. A very good copy of this pre-WWII text. Very Good / No Jacket. Item #2016-F473
