It was made into a movie in 1953 and was nominated for several Academy Awards, winning one for cinematography. Brown paper dust jacket with depiction of cowboy in black hat to front panel, title and author to front panel in white, title, author and publisher in white to spine, photo of author and his bio to rear panel, synopsis of story to front and rear flaps, the book is bound in cream colored cloth with title in brown to front board, title, author and publisher in brown to spine; measures 7 3/4" by 5 1/2"; pagination: [i-iv], 1-214. Overall good condition. The dust jacket is complete and not price clipped, 3" by 1" rubbed to white on front panel effecting the top of the cowboy hat, spine is sunned, 3" closed tear to front flap, 2" closed tear to where front panel meets spine, several small missing chips and general shelf wear to jacket. The book is in very good condition, some soiling to front, rear and spine, prior owner inscription to front free endpaper, the hinges are sound and textblock is square. Please see pictures.
