London: Chatto & Windus, 1881. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 7.5" x 5". The first edition, first printing of Twain's classic. With the red cloth covers, Chatto & Windus's November 1881 ads, and Bet and Nan's father and grandmother described on page 8 as a 'a couple of devils' (later changed to 'fiends'). The spine is sunned and worn, with slight frays to the head, tail and joints. There are bumps to the corners, particularly the front bottom corner. The text block is leaning and has foxing to the bottom and fore edge. The front hinge is starting. Very Good. Item #2022-M241
