In 1912 the twenty-year old Millay entered her poem 'Renascence' into the poetry contest, 'The Lyric Year'. Although it was widely considered the best entry, she came in fourth, leading to an extended controversy and launching her extraordinary career. Accompanied by a leaf with the text of Millay's poem 'The Harp Weaver', advertising its setting to music by the composer Elinor Remick Warren. Loosely inserted. 15th edition.
