Ulysses

The Folio Society, 2004. Paladino, Mimmo. Hardcover. 7.75x10.5". Joyce's groundbreaking novel chronicles Leopold Bloom's journeys through Dublin on a single day, 16 June 1904, transforming Homer's Odyssey into one of the most influential works of the twentieth century. In 2004 the Folio Society celebrated the centenary of the day on which the novel is set with the publication of a limited edition of 1760 copies (of which this is 853) bound in full goatskin leather blocked with a design by Jeff Clements. The text follows the Folio Society edition of 1998, a facsimile reproduction of the 1926 second edition, with badly broken characters corrected and blemishes deleted. Paladino's 18 etchings correspond to the hours of the novel, using gold-leaf to evoke medieval miniatures and Renaissance paintings. With a preface by Stephen James Joyce and an introduction by Jaques Aubert. Clamshell case; top-edge gilding; ribbon marker; 735pp. Additional shipping fees may apply due to weight of this item. Fine. Item #2022-M125
