Full blue leather boards, gilt outline to covers, gilt titles and designs to spine, 4 raised bands to spine, marbled edges, marbled endpapers. Condition: Both volumes; Some scratches to boards and bumping to corners, rubbing to head and tail of spine, previous owners bookplates to front paste down endpapers, minor foxing to end papers, frontispiece has offset to title page, but otherwise clean and unmarked text. Vol. 2: small crack (half inch) to head of front joint. Although he was known as the "Good King Henry" for his concern about his subjects' welfare, he was an unpopular king among his contemporaries and was targeted for assassination on at least 12 accounts. Despite this, he gained status after his death and was admired for his victories. A nicely bound and clean copy of this work. Very Good. Item #2020-K98
