Description: full tan leather boards, gilt titles to maroon compartment on spine. Condition: All volumes; Scratches and marks to boards, corners bumped and have some loss, wear and some loss to head and tail of spine (see photos), joints cracked but still hold firm, hinges sound (except rear hinge of vol. 3 which is starting), previous owners name penned to front paste down endpaper (vol. 1), very light, minor foxing and offsetting throughout text. Louis the Sixteenth was the last King of France, and although his reign eventually led to the demise of the monarchy, he began his rule by trying to implement social reform like abolishing serfdom, abolishing the death penalty for military deserters, and increasing tolerance non-catholics. Williams provides insights into his reign by commenting on his correspondence. Good. Item #2020-K103
