The Fine Art Society, 1879. Hardcover. About Etching contains a collection of etchings, with explanatory notes on each, from 30 printer etchers. Haden states that he was restoring etching as an "art" and to draw attention to the subject. The book is presented in two parts: part I is a collection of etching and engravings "by the great masters", and part II is an annotated catalogue of the etchings. An original etching by Haden is printed as the frontispiece. 10" x 14", 80 pp. Brown cloth boards with black leather spine, gilt tile to cover and spine. 16 etchings including the frontispiece, fore and tail edges of pages are rough-cut. Condition: Gilt to cover and spine is bright and intact, leather to spine heavily rubbed, corners bumped, ¼" x ?" dent to fore edge of front cover. Two ex-libris bookplates to front paste-down endpaper, offsetting to front and rear free endpapers, front and rear hinges starting, rough-cut edges of pages are chipping. Good condition.
